Facial Plastic Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Blepharoplasty is a procedure that aesthetically modifies the eye region of your face giving you a more desired appearance.
Blepharoplasty improves the appearance of the lower eyelids, the upper eyelids or both lids. Blepharoplasty allows for a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more youthful and rested. Droopy and puffy eyelids can make you look aged and can also impair vision.
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can remove the excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid and the bags under the eyes.
Baggy lower eyelids are generally due to the excess fat normally contained behind the eyelids and in areas of the lower lid. By removing this excess fat, the procedure empties the baggy lower eyelids so the skin tightens the surface of the lower lids to achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance under the eyes.
If you have puffiness in the upper eyelids blepharoplasty can remove the excess fatty deposits.
The amount of excess skin and/or fat that a patient has is in part due to the aging process and in part due to congenital factors.
A blepharoplasty is a procedure performed on the upper and/or lower eyelids. The desired results of a blepharoplasty is the successful removal of excess skin and fat. A blepharoplastymay be done individually or in conjumction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift or browlift.
Every patient is different, You are unique; and a careful analysis of your face and the anatomy around your eyes is a necessary, as well as an analysis of the position of your eyebrows. This analysis is done before any recommendation can be made about a blepharoplasty or other procedures for you, to ensure that we can proceed with the best plan for you.
Many people are born with a significant amount of fat around their eyes that tends to expand with time. Aging skin loses its natural elasticity and may actually also increase with time. These problems combine to lead to bulging, redundant skin around the eyes which gives patients a tired or aging appearence.
The blepharoplasty procedure involves making incisions that are hidden well in the crease region of the upper eyelid and below the lower lash line. These tend to heal amazingly well.
